- Saturdays 2:00PM – 3:00PM
- March 8th – June 7th, 2014
- Grades 1 – 5
- Location: Lighthouse Development Center
The Robotics Program has just been introduced to our Development Center. Over the course of 14-weeks, children will be able to learn about the basics of robots, and how their parts move and function. Using LEGOs and LEGO Mindstorms, students are going to be building their own gadgets and contraptions to complete selected tasks on their own, to boost their creativity. Our goal is to introduce basic engineering principles to help students become creative problem solvers, and more independent academically.
Students in Grades 1 and 2 will be learning about simple machines, the functions of each, and their applications in real life. They’ll build simple, non-motorized machines, and use these machines to complete the tasks assigned to them.
Students in Grades 3 – 5 will learn more in-depth robotics principles such as gear ratios, torque, sensors, and how to build and program their own LEGO Mindstorms Robot.
